ARMTA is a professional association representing and serving approximately 450 music teachers across the province. The organization began in 1933 as a group of music teachers who were interested in enhancing the quality of life by promoting the love and knowledge of music through teaching and by providing cultural events of a high standard in the community. These became our stated goals and objectives when we became a Registered Professional Association in 1982.

ARMTA is affiliated with the national association, the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations – Fédération Canadienne des Professeurs de Musique (CFMTA-FCAPM).

There are currently local branches in CalgaryEdmonton, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Red Deer. ARMTA is managed by the volunteer Provincial Council and administered on a day-to-day basis by the Provincial Secretary/Registrar.

The Red Deer Branch of ARMTA has 21 members from Red Deer and the surrounding area. New members are welcome. See Membership for information about joining ARMTA.

ARMTA is registered under the Societies Act of Alberta.
