Benefits of Study with a Registered Teacher…

Privileges of Membership

 

Members of ARMTA Receive:

 

1. “Non-restrictive” Liability Insurance

The insurance policy is “non-restrictive”. This insurance not only covers your home and office, it also protects a member from liability when a recital is given in a mall, library, church, or other venue. (In many cities this type of insurance is now required of teachers who wish to have students perform in public settings.)

2. Website

Look up www.armta.ca to find branch contacts, membership lists, conveners, and other information.

3. Directory

All members will receive a paper copy of the Annual Membership Directory which includes contact information of current ARMTA members.

4. Creative Music Competition

Each year students and teachers are encouraged to send entries to the Creative Music Competition. Interested parties submit their original compositions and have an opportunity to win cash prizes and to be recommended in representing our province at the national Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association (CFMTA) level competition.

5. CFMTA Piano and Vocal Competitions

ARMTA hosts a scholarship program each year for the winner and runner up of these competitions.

6. TEMPO Magazine

Every ARMTA member will receive a free subscription to the TEMPO magazine.

7. RMT Designation

Each full-member of ARMTA is entitled to the RMT (Registered Music Teacher)       designation.

Privileges of Membership

Current Red Deer Branch Members Receive:

 

1. Student Performance Opportunities

The Red Deer Branch hosts several student recitals (Halloween, Jitterbug and Adult) each year. Any student of a current member is eligible to participate.

2. Student Achievement Awards

Each year the Branch honors area students of current members with cash awards for those who have achieved the highest marks in either their theory or practical exams from any recognized conservatory (i.e., Conservatory Canada, Royal Conservatory of Music).

3. Music Conference Alberta

      As a member of the Alberta Music Education Foundation (AMEF) members may attend the Conference without any additional membership fees.

4. Canada Music Week Grant

      The Red Deer branch receives a grant from AMEF each year to assist in a Canada Music Week activity. Look up Alliance for Canadian New Music Projects (ACNMP) for more information on the Contemporary Showcase Festival.

5. Workshops or Master Classes

Each year the Branch hosts several different workshops or master classes for teachers and students to further their music education.

6. Referral Directory

All current members are listed by name, teaching subjects, phone and e-mail in a referral directory available on the Branch website.

7. Monthly Meetings

Members have the opportunity to attend monthly meetings on the first Friday of every month, to discuss current issues of music in our community and be part of the planning process.

8. Advertising

The Branch releases local newspaper articles throughout the year, to create awareness about ARMTA Red Deer.
